Foundation
Our lives are founded upon what we believe. What we believe determines what we will do and the direction we will go. Because humans are sinful and are capable of being wrong, mislead, or deceived; how can we base our life and the lives of others upon a foundation as clearly fallible as the mere ideas of men. The Bible, on the other hand, is not of human origin, but it is the Word of the all-knowing, all-righteous Creator God; and it was given that we might know the truth and the way of salvation through Jesus Christ.
“For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11 BSB ).
Family
The family is an institution created by God, which is the basis for all human society. The father designed as spiritual leader, discipliner, provider, etc. The mother as helpmeet, nurturer, organizer, etc. As the children are raised in the admonition of the Lord; they too are able to contribute their own unique talents and abilities to the family unit. A family seeking the Lord and following Biblical principles can, by God’s grace, influence society and change generations to come.
“…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!” (Joshua 24:15b BSB).
Education
The instructing of the hearts and the minds of our children is being controlled by the world’s education system, which is seeking to remove everything pertaining to the One true living God and His Word. The current education system is denying our kids the true teaching of history, of morality, and of truth. As parents, who love the Lord, we cannot allow our children to be taught by a system not founded upon Scripture, and we have an accountability before God for the godly training and instructing of our children. An education that is not in line with God and His Word is empty and will pass away. Without God we are nothing, have nothing, and can do nothing.
“Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Thy commandments” (Psalms 119:66 KJV).
Homesteading
God has given us, as mankind, the things which we need to live on this earth and has given us dominion over the earth to use for our good and His glory. We believe there is so much we can learn and so much good that can come from the simple ways of providing with our own hands the things which we need, and we believe that these skills and the knowledge of these things could be important in the days ahead. It is so beautiful to use creation to teach our children about the God of the Bible; and what better way to do this then by raising our own food, becoming self-sustaining, and relying on God for our needs.
“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 KJV).
Culture
We live in a world in which truth is considered to be established simply by what one believes; where a theory is said to hold the answers to our origins; and where some people are absolutely sure there are no absolutes. We must be seeking to know God’s opinion on the issues and stand firm in His Word. The world believes that truth can be altered or customized, but truth is not swayed by our approval or disapproval of it. The Word of God will endure until the end, regardless of what changes are brought about in the world in which we live. How can we determine and stand on what is true in the midst of the pressures of our current culture – by keeping all we believe and do according to God’s Word.
“I EXHORT therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV).
Religions
There are many religions in the world, but how does one know what is true? Is it possible that we can simply accept a religion because we are raised in it or because others around us accept it, and not truly have a relationship with the God of the Bible? God’s Word tells us, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13 BSB). And, “Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true. As a result, many of them believed, along with quite a few prominent Greek women and men” (Acts 17:11-12 BSB). The Scriptures also tell us to “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you actually fail the test? And I hope you will realize that we have not failed the test” (2 Corinthians 13:5-6 BSB).
Any belief or religion that departs from the Word of God and denies the true historical person of Jesus Christ as He is revealed in Scripture, as the only way to the truth, has become a false religion. “See now that I am He; there is no God besides Me. I bring death and I give life; I wound and I heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand” (Deuteronomy 32:39 BSB). The book by Ray Comfort called World Religions In A Nutshell has a quick review of many of the major religions and how they compare to Christianity.
